Frequently asked questions

We're here to answer your questions!

What stage is the ASP at now?

In December 2020, we submitted a Final Draft ASP to Foothills County for their review. We received comments from Foothills County and City of Calgary on the submission. Throughout 2021, we worked closely with Foothills County to address these comments and revised the Final Draft ASP, as appropriate.

In June 2022, we formally submitted the Oxbow ASP to Foothills County.

Over the next couple of months, Foothills County will circulate the submitted Oxbow ASP for formal administrative review. Then, the Oxbow ASP will be scheduled for First Reading, followed by a Public Hearing and second reading, as appropriate and determined by Foothills County Council. Prior to the third and final reading of the Oxbow ASP by Foothill County Council, the Oxbow ASP must be approved by the Calgary Metropolitan Regional Board (CMRB) through the Regional Evaluation Framework process.

How did you engage with the community?

It has always been important to Walton to connect with our neighbours. Since we initiated the Oxbow ASP in 2015, we spent time with you around coffee tables, at open houses, and door knocking around the area.

In 2020, we reconnected with the community. However, due to public health and safety requirements in place at the time during the COVID-19 pandemic, we met with you online to discuss the project.

Throughout the project, we have met with a Community Advisory Group. Members of this group are residents and business owners in the area and have generously provided their insight and guidance on development of the Oxbow lands.

When can I have my input heard?

What changes did you make to the original plan through the evolution of the Oxbow ASP process?

From the onset of the project, we wanted to make sure we developed an ASP for the plan area that reflects and respects the surrounding local and regional influences.

In order to ensure alignment with policy guidance and reflect our conversations with the community and address comments from Foothills County, we revised a few areas of the plan, including stormwater and related open space planning, water and wastewater servicing options, and a comprehensive update of the document to align with the Calgary Metropolitan Regional Board (CMRB) Growth Plan and the Regional Evaluation Framework.
