ASP 101
ASP 101
What's Included in an ASP?
Foothills County and developers will use the Oxbow ASP document as a framework to guide development of the plan area.
Residents and neighbours will be able to use the Oxbow ASP to understand how their community will continue to evolve and grow.
The following elements will be included within the Oxbow ASP.
Policy Context
A change in policy.
The regional planning context has shifted since we our submitted our preliminary Draft Area Structure Plan (ASP) to Foothills County for their initial review in 2017.
In 2018, the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB) was formed and mandated its member municipalities to ensure responsible regional planning and growth management, optimize shared services and economic wellbeing, and foster sustainable growth.
Foothills County is a member of the CMRB and must submit statutory plans of regional significance to the CMRB for review and approval.
If approved, the Oxbow ASP will be deemed a statutory plan. Walton will ensure that the document is consistent with the long-term regional interests identified by the CMRB's Growth Plan (GP) and Regional Evaluation Framework (IREF).
